Live Dock Weather App Reviews

Im changing my rating and my review. I have suffered through the app not working and waiting for the changes, etc. But now what is unforgivable to me is the weather forecast itself is so poor (for my area in Los Angeles) that it is unusable. For example: At 12:30 am today this apps forecast for TODAY (we are not even talking way into the future) stated it would be 103 F today. It is now late afternoon and it has bearly reached 90. The Weather channel said it would be 93F - they were wrong by 3 degrees but this app was out by 13 degrees. That is too much. I had mentioned this to tech support some weeks ago. I am now going to uninstall the app. When you decide to delete it you are in for an additional problem. I could not get it to delete: didnt show up in "force quit", using the "control" key did not work. Ive seen friendiler viruses. This is a terrible, terrible product (Note: I have uptodate everything and all other apps work great).

Only thing missing is radar, but the rest is perfect for what I was looking for. More acurate temps the swackett but love swacketts radar. Lots of information and easy to set up other locations. Easy to read info at a glance. Now just get some radar screen and it would be the most perfect weather app out there.

The app demands I allow it to see my Location Information, but since Macs dont have built-in GPS chips, this is useless, it uses the outpoint for my ISP, over 50 miles away and uses tht as a default. I delete that incorrect location and try to add my own and it interrupts me, thinking it knows better and re-adds the incorrect location. The only way to get around this bug is to add your city as a second city then delete the incorrect one. But at every start up, it still does the same thing. Useless app, dont buy it, youll want your money back like I do. Rip-off.

Ive purchased more weather apps than Id like to admit, but this one seems to be the best for my needs. I like the colorful weather icons, the 24 Hour Forecast, the 7 Day Forecast, the Sunrise & Sunset info, and the Moon info. Running it from the Menu Bar works best for me. Ive taken it out of the dock completely. The developer needs to add a "Quit" option under Preferences for users who run it this way. Id like the option to drop the decimal point in the temperature. The addition of radar would be nice. I like how the forecast icon and temperature in the menu bar are grouped as one with a dark background. I like how this app enables a 4-Day forecast to remain on the desktop at all times. One click on this presents a window with the detailed forecast. To me, this type of app is so much more useful that those that present a giant window of weather animation with small, plain symbols and numbers. This is the app Ill be using everyday on my iMac. I hope the developer continues to make refinements and improvements.

I have had the other weather dock app for a while and it works great but I was looking for more detail in the extended forecast. I found Live Dock Weather through a search and saw it had good reviews from several websites. I’m not sure what they were reviewing because this app does not show live wetaher in the dock; even though I have it set to update every 15 minutes it does not. I have left the app running for several hours and the weather in the dock does not update. You have to launch the extended view and then click refresh. I am not sure how you can get away with calling an app LIVE WEATHER when it does not update live. I could not find any setting to control this other then the update interval which does not work. Apple needs to offer refunds for apps like this that are blatant failures or misleading names/advertising.

Look, I don’t want a weather window floating on my desktop. I want to know what the weather will be like THROUGHOUT the day, and I want that when I click on the app be it in my status bar or dock. This gave me only the current weather in dock or status bar. I hated that had to have the floating bar to get any more info. Apparently there is no one who will give me a desktop that does what the weather app on my phone does.

tried five different times, it just puts up a black window with a spinner inside. never once even saw it. instant delete, two bucks down the drain.

Do not buy !! WASTE OF MONEY. WOULD NOT LOAD

All i get is a spinning circle in a black box!! Refunds or credit should be given!

Nice graphics, but a weather app that does update automatically is pretty much useless. I sent an email to the developers and ’they are working on it’. That was in October. Draw your own conclusions. To me it’s a fail. Rickapolis

it doesn’t work. i should have read the reviews before paying $1.99. i have the same issues as others - it never opens, just a spinning animation forever, you’ll never see the weather. Apple should remove this from the store.

This app worked just fine until I updated it today..now other than a temp on the menu bar I have nothing…The drop down from the menu just shows the spinning update… all my settings are still there and I even uninstalled and reinstalled the app.

puts me in chicago. but i’m in milwaukee, a couple hours away, and the weather is very different. when i put in my city, it still doesn’t give me accurate temps or forecasting. worthless if it’s not accurate.

This miserable crap is unusable. Can’t pick out a city by zip code. Can’t pick out a city by name. Calls most places “KAUS”. What is that supposed to mean? Pick five different cities and the app lists each of them as “KAUS”. I want my money back !!!!

Before this update I had the current temperature in the status bar. Now all I have is a little icon representing the current weather conditions. I know it’s raining. I can look out my window and see water. I don’t need that in my status bar. Or at least give me the option to display the temperature and/or the icon. But why did you take it away?

Still can’t get the temperature on status bar. Reinstalled and have the box checked. Only the cloud icon shows, no temperature .. Please help!

Ive been using Live Dock Weather for quite some time now. Its a wonderful app I use frequently, especially before leaving the house to dress properly for the weather! Stan :~)

Cute but just tells temp and gives pictures of weather at the moment. No wether info for the day or anything else. I would prefer to have my money back.
